Palm Beach

Palm Beach

Florida is to New Yorkers as water is to plants…LIFE SAVING (at least in colder months). A seasonal refuge for East Coasters… so much so that when northerners move south for the winter they are labeled, Snow Birds. Just be sure to avoid this paradise in late summer when it’s unbearably humid hurricane season!

I didn’t get to know Florida much when I lived in Los Angeles as the five hour flight seemed like a lifetime away and Vegas or Cabo so much more convenient. However, since moving to Manhattan I quickly learned the value and necessity of this close getaway! In just three hours you leave blizzards and bone chilling temperatures for sunny beaches and bold bikinis.

There are many cities to love in South Florida, including sexy Miami…But for me Palm Beach seems to stand out from the rest. A classy and exclusive destination with gorgeous beaches, luxurious spas, and delectable bites. Not the most budget friendly of places, but that’s what West Palm is for.

Accommodations

LUXE: If money isn’t a factor, then hands down indulge and stay at The Breakers. Personally, I cannot describe the rooms, as it has been outside of my budget, but I can vouch for the epic grounds. I have had the pleasure to enjoy the multiple swimming pools, impressive beach club, oh and delicious coconut cocktails with friends who are members. PS: Hi Breakers Marketing, if you want to collaborate and invite me-I will gladly stay in your plush pad! Wink 😉

Luxury For (A little) Less: I’m happy to announce that you don’t have to sacrifice quality staying elsewhere- You may just have to drive further to get it! I discovered Eau Resort & Spa when playing around with HotelTonight and Booking.com, which really can assist in your price saving needs. The long drive worried me and made me regret not dropping the extra bucks at a boutique in town. However, the moment I walked inside the lobby, I realized the perks of this dreamy destination.

It was originally a Ritz Carlton, but sold and renamed Eau, French for “water” by the London based Lewis Group. This oceanfront resort consists of eight acres highlighting two grand pools, premiere fine dining, Jonathan Adler colorful guest rooms, and a Conde Nast Traveler award winning 42,000-square-foot spa.

Rae’s Nays: Far from downtown Palm Beach and unfortunately a receding beach due to storms and tides. View More

Dining

How do you decide where to dine in Palm Beach when there’s a myriad of tasty options? I have had delicious meals and memories at the hot spot Meat Market, trendy Buccan, and Manhattan Italian favorite, Sant Ambroeus.

Palm Beach Grill / Honor Bar by Hillstone Restaurant Group still remains my top choice in town. I consistently order their perfectly cooked Dover Sole and addictive crispy chicken sandwich. I hold the bun to cut carbs and then spoil my diet with the best shoestring fries ever! Not to mention, the people watching and flashy cars are always entertaining. View more

TIP: If you are staying at Eau, be sure to try Angle, which is “farm to elegant table.” Order the Caviar and let each bite melt in your mouth with your eyes closed. You will thank me.

Activities

If you wish to have fun in the sun, come to Palm Beach! There are times on vacation I make zero plans except for sleeping in and sun worshipping by the pool. Then other times I step out of my bikini comfort zone and explore.

One of my favorite experiences was a lesson at Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course with a picturesque ocean backdrop. I cannot say I perfected my swing or handicap, but I can say I bought cute outfits at their shop and hit the ball further than my feet. All joking aside, the course is great for all levels and Ranked in the top 50 Most Fun golf courses in the United States by Golf Digest.

If Golf is not your thing, trade in the clubs for champagne at the Eau spa. 42,000 sf of pure pampering with no one taking score.

TIP: Don’t forget to stroll Worth Avenue…Home to upscale designer shopping, manicured streets, and fine art galleries.
